Who we are

Our
Mission

We are dedicated to supporting the religious and other charitable works carried out by members of the congregation. These works are mainly in the fields of education, relief of poverty and distress, and support of the work of the congregation overseas.

We were founded over two hundred years ago, in 1818, in the French town of St Brieuc. Our founder, the Venerable Jean-Marie de la Mennais, wanted to relieve the poverty and lack of education that he saw all around him, and the first small group of nuns was soon joined by others who opened schools elsewhere in France, in England and in Canada.

Our General Council

The members of our general council have all dedicated their lives to the causes of education and relief of poverty.
